The Pocket Retro Game Emulator looks a bit like the GameBoyMicro but that's where the similarities end. Load on NES, SNES,GBA, Sega Genesis, or Neo Geo roms and play your old favorites inthe palm of your hand. With 4GB of built-in storage and a mini SDslot for expansion you can bring every single game from the bestclassic consoles with you. Of course in typical all encompassinggadget style you can also play movie files, audio files, use thebuilt-in FM radio, view jpg images, Read E-books, do voicerecording etc...
What you really care about is gaming of course. So how are thecontrols? Quite good actually. The d-pad on the left is preciseenough to pull off some Street Fighter moves and you get fourcontrol buttons on the right as well as two shoulder buttons. Thisis more than enough to manage anything an 8-bit or 16-bit consolegame can dish out. The buttons are completely reconfigurable toyour fancy should you not like the default assignments. Plus youcan pause a game anywhere you like, take a full memory dump andstore it. This means you can essentially "save" anywhere you likeand come back to that exact moment in the game later.
"But ThinkGeek" you ask "where can I procure such old skoolgaming roms to load onto the Pocket Retro Game Emulator?". Wellyoung hardcore gamer, we hear tell of a mystical soothsayer whosename is "Google". Upon entering such phrases as "NES roms" or "SNESroms" a person may be directed to easily download such roms. Butkeep in mind that our attorneys do not approve of such behavior andthe above statement is likely completely untrue. In fact you shouldprobably forget about this whole conversation. A handheld gamingsystem that can play all your favorite old classic console games?Nope. Just too good to be true.
Important Note for Mac Users
When connecting the Pocket Retro Game Emulator to your Mac computerusing USB, you will see it appear as any USB mass storage devicewith about 4GB available. However after copying over your desiredfiles and ejecting the device, you may find the system needs to bereset (look on the left side of the system for the reset button). This doesn't occur on computers running Windows.
